Route Survey Services for Oversized and Heavy Cargo

At Eastship-MS Wind Logistics, we provide specialized route survey services designed for the safe and efficient transport of oversized and heavy loads. From wind turbine components to industrial machinery, our team ensures your cargo reaches its destination without delays, compliance issues, or unexpected costs.

Why Route Surveys Are Critical for Heavy Haulage

Route surveys are a critical part of heavy haulage and oversized cargo transport, allowing potential constraints to be identified before the transport operation begins.

Our route surveys and route assessments help to:

  • Identify road restrictions such as low bridges, narrow roads, sharp turns, steep gradients, roundabouts, and other access limitations.

  • Assess bridge load capacities, road conditions, and infrastructure that may affect heavy transport.

  • Verify overhead and lateral clearances for oversized and abnormal loads, including power lines, signs, gantries, and other roadside infrastructure.

  • Determine the feasibility of the planned heavy haulage route based on cargo dimensions, weight, and transport configuration.

  • Identify where temporary road modifications, obstacle removal, traffic management, or other measures may be required.

  • Support special transport permits and compliance with local road and transport regulations.

  • Reduce operational risks, unexpected route changes, delays, and additional costs during the heavy transport operation.

Our Proven Route Survey Process

Initial Route Analysis

1

We begin with a detailed desktop study using GIS mapping software, satellite imagery, and infrastructure databases. This stage identifies potential restrictions such as low clearances, narrow road sections, or weight-limited structures, allowing us to focus on only the most viable route options for further evaluation.

Trailer Configuration

2

Next, we determine the most suitable trailer setup based on cargo dimensions, weight distribution, and route characteristics. Our recommendations consider modular combinations, axle arrangements, and steering capabilities to ensure operational efficiency, compliance, and safety throughout the transport.

On-Site Survey

3

Our specialists travel the proposed route to record precise measurements of road widths, turning radii, gradients, and access to loading or unloading areas. Using drone technology, we capture high-resolution aerial footage to identify overhead obstacles such as power lines or signage and to document terrain conditions in critical locations.

Autocad Simulations

4

We recreate challenging route sections in AutoCAD 2D to assess maneuverability and clearance before execution. Simulations are performed for elements such as sharp bends, bridge approaches, or narrow passages, ensuring that operational risks are minimized well before transport begins.

Final Survey Report

5

The completed report compiles all findings into a detailed, compliance-ready document. It includes KMZ files for Google Earth, AutoCAD simulations with explanations, aerial images, and permitting details. Bridge load capacities are assessed using our past oversized transport experience and confirmed through official inquiries to the transport ministry.
